Water,garbage and sewer charges have skyrocketed in City of Lubbock. Taxpayers did vote for some bond issues. They did not vote for other expenditures like sweetheart deals on landfill and water treatment plant. Both of those land acquisitions were at 4 times property evaluations. Since 1988,when I moved outside city limits,water,garbage and sewer charges have multiplied by a factor of 6. It could be more for some. Water leaks have become a real crisis and city will spend $2 MILLION over a 2 year period to replace water pipes in downtown area before downtown renovation. That money has to come from water bills since bond money is going to Lake Alan Henry pipeline. Mayor Martin wants to blame former city councils for neglecting water infrastructure. Mayor Martin is mixed up in property acquisitions that benefit his rich friends and contractor buddies. Next time you get a water,garbage,sewer bill just send Mayor Tom Martin a "Note of Regret".He'll understand,be sure and include photo-copy of your water bill.
