As a county resident I only pay county property tax and vote in county commissioners elections. I don't live in a city. Lubbock county collects taxes from every property owner in Lubbock County and every voter gets to vote on a county commissioner. Lubbock County Commissioners now have a $10 MILLION a month budget for Lubbock County and that's 6 times what it was 10 years ago. The TEA Party crowd have preached against higher taxes but very few TEA party people know that the republicans,Patti Jones,Mark Heinrich and Bill McCay(Kenny Maines and James Kitten before McCay&Heinrich),have gouged property tax rate the legal limit 8 out of last 10 years. County property taxes effect every business in Lubbock county that is not non-profit. At the same time city council cut taxrate one cent on $100 value while republican county commissioners raised taxrate 2 cents on $100 value. I personally have attended several taxrate hearings at county with other taxpayer watchdogs and only 8 others joined me to lecture against higher taxrate. Commissioners have raised both UMC and county taxrate and commissioners don't even have public remarks on their monthly agendas for citizens to participate. Lubbock County is closed government with higher taxes almost every year.
Where is the outrage?
Is it because Patti Jones,Bill McCay and Mark Heinrich are republicans.
Is it OK for republicans to raise taxes?
It wasn't OK for democrats to raise taxes.
