Friday is first meeting of new Homelessness Committee appointed by City Council. Concerned citizens should attend and I'm sure volunteers will be needed to house some homeless people . I currently have one in my home. ;D

Above is me in my Coronado T-Shirt before my haircut today. Next to me is some fella that was also attending the Homeless Committee meeting at the Salvation Army dining room. Behind me is city council member Karen Gibson who later fled the meeting as the filibusters of the committee became too much for her. Victor Hernandez of the city council also attended and fled the same meeting to escape the filibusters. I rank this "filibuster" marathon right there with the filibuster townhall meeting 6 months ago that had me,Dale Holton(Chief of Police) and Lee Ann Dumbauld(City Manager)being tortured by Todd Klein and Helen Liggett(Ted Liggett's wife). Several citizens were tortured at both meetings.Politics in Lubbock is attending meetings and listening to filibusters. The picture above was the featured picture promoting KCBD.com coverage of this meeting.I was not asleep, just listening with my eyes closed. It was "filibuster torture". I opened my eyes and saw that both Gibson and Hernandez had fled,I got a glass of tea and observed the meeting standing up in the back room. The filibusters lasted for over an hour.

Isn't a filibuster a tactic to delay a vote? What were they voting on? Glad you were there. Somehow, I am never sure I get the low-down from the newspaper. Btw, was it bad-hair day?

Well we both had hair blown or uncombed. The filibusters were designed to impress other committee members. 3 motions were made in between filibusters and a chairman and vice chairman were finally elected. They also voted to take a field trip to Amarillo to view their homeless shelter,at their own expense. The meeting lasted 1.5 hours and only 8 citizens could endure the meeting. It was revealed that City of Lubbock gives $100,000 a year to 6 non-profit organizations to treat the homeless. Ch.11 agreed to not show the names of those 6 outfits. I saw the print-out naming those but I didn't write them down since $100,000 to 6 non-profits(combined) is not exactly massive waste.I did get a $5 haircut at Hair Academy(old barber college) on 34th St. today to solve the bad hair situation,so my bad hair was left on their floor.13/28 didn't cover the story and Ch.11 uses my ugly face since I have run for chairman of both democrat and republican party and I am editor of Lubbock County Register blog, where embarassing public record is published, like Ch.11's ad budget with the city. Both Ch.34 and Ch.11 get city ad budget dollars so they cover committee meetings. I get the dirty looks from their reporters and the weird camera views.

Not your hair I was aiming at. Give a comb to the other guy though. How do you know Channel 11 agreed to withhold from the public information about the 6 non-profits?
Btw, Clif, I agree with what you posted about the favorable tax treatment given to churches. But churches are only a part of the "non-profit" scam. There is not nearly enough oversight of non-profits.
Good job.

On the video report above Ch.11 only showed the 6 figures dispensed to the non-profits. They conveniently didn't show the names of the non-profits getting the $100,000. Salvation Army was one of the 6,where the meeting was held. Bill Howerton had the city print out and give it to Ch.11,AJ and Ch.34. None of the three named the 6 who got the $100,000.Apparently the city is getting state and maybe federal funds to dispense to those 6 and it's been going on for 5 years. Salvation Army now has a small bus that they use to transport people around the city. It's similar to a CitiBus or Spartan Bus.City is claiming that Salvation Army could house all homeless but Salvation Army refuses intoxicated or drugged up homeless people a place to sleep. They seemed very nervous that I was attending the meeting. City did not post meeting time or place on their website but did post it on bulletin board downtown.
